The other day, my wife and I were walking the dogs around the neighborhood. Penny, who is young and full of puppy energy, likes to play “search and destroy” while she’s out for a walk. Nothing is safe — acorns, twigs, millipedes, butterflies, whatever. Her goal is to eat it.
So it was not a huge surprise when she began digging in soft soil right next to the road. What was a surprise was when I saw something on the ground fling dirt back in her face. Realizing it must be a mole, I quickly reeled the dog in, handed her off to Diane, and finished the digging myself.
