This time of year is my favorite time to fish. While most people will pick the fall as the best time to fish, and I wholeheartedly agree, I just enjoy fishing this time of year more than any other time. Right now is our spring transition period, and it’s happening a little early this year.
The white butterflies are back in the Harbor, which excites us because we know the tarpon are right behind them. The cownose rays are starting to school up for their breeding season. The cobia numbers are steadily increasing. The sharks are starting to work their way up into the Harbor. Spanish mackerel are making an impressive appearance and, on top of all of that, our winter fish are still doing well. And let’s not forget our usual Harbor suspects — snook and redfish.
