Snook season opens Saturday! I wanted to talk about that, but I can’t. Instead, I need to tell you about something that might have a huge impact on you if you like to catch grouper, snapper, amberjack and other reef fish species.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is holding a public workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. March 3 at Bass Pro Shops in Fort Myers. If you care about being able to bring reef fish home for the table, I would strongly suggest you show up. The workshop is being held to get public input on a new, and potentially very scary, proposal: A mandatory permit for recreation reef fishing.
