Just a few hundred yards north of historic Boca Grande Pass, there’s a small restaurant sitting right on the beach. The South Beach Bar & Grille is almost in the shadow of the Boca Bay Pass Club (which has a $25,000 initiation fee, plus a $2,500 annual membership), but it’s an entirely different sort of place — in a good way.
The atmosphere is pretty casual, like you’d probably expect from a beachfront cantina. It’s also very busy this time of year, even at 2:30 in the afternoon. You might want to call ahead, especially if you want to ensure the best possible view of the Gulf.
