Running aground on the flats is not a whole lot of fun for most folks, but how about running aground in a channel? For owners of vessels with deep drafts, that’s sometimes reality. But that may be changing soon.
On Tuesday, April 1, the West Coast Inland Navigation District and Charlotte County Department of Public Works will be holding a workshop to discuss dredging in local canals and channels. The goal is to establish an Environmental Resource General Permit to authorize the WCIND to dredge in certain areas where it is determined to be in the public interest to do so.
