I’m just about sick and tired of people on the Internet getting on a high horse about fish photos and videos. The problem is that a lot of these folks are going off half-cocked, without having all the information about the circumstances surrounding the pictures.
The big hammerhead that was caught last week on Florida’s east coast is a prime example. I saw it on the TV news. Three kids in their late teens who do a lot of land-based shark fishing caught and released a hammerhead about 12 feet long. They seemed to have done right by the fish, getting it released as quickly as possible, but they took a lot of heat for it. People were angry that they had dragged it onto the sand, or even that they had caught the fish at all. Their behavior was labeled as cruel, inhumane, even sociopathic.
