Lunch at Pop’s Sunset Grill

We were hunting shark teeth on Caspersen Beach when our bellies started rumbling, letting us know it was past lunch time. Fortunately, there was a place just a bit up the road that we had been thinking of checking out.

Pop’s Sunset Grill sits right on the Intracoastal Waterway in Nokomis. I had been tempted by the aroma of their food many times while snook fishing at the nearby Albee Road bridge, but had never managed to get there before they closed (I was busy, after all). As we pulled into the parking lot, it became apparent that a whole bunch of other people had the same plan. We had to wait 20 minutes — at 2:30 p.m. on Monday! No doubt this is a popular restaurant, but the crowds should start to thin out soon as our northern friends begin heading home.
