I’ll start with fishing. The weather has improved, and waters cleared up outside of Charlotte Harbor, so get out and enjoy some more mackerel action. We even caught a few snapper, sheepshead and flounder. Minnows were conspicuously absent. Could the messed up Lake Okeechobee overflow waters dumped out be trashing our Gulf Coast fishing? We’re not seeing the mackerel, bait schools and other fish here yet. Where are they? It’s past time to see this migration, and some fish are already north of us. It’s past time for king mackerel, but I’m still looking, optimistically.
Tarpon are showing up again. I saw several hooked last week. Call a knowledgeable guide and let them show you how much fun fishing the Pass can be. Places like Whidden’s Marina on Boca Grande can hook you up.
