Lunch at Harpoon Harry’s

We had followed the incoming tide all the way to the U.S. 41 bridges over the Peace River, hoping to find a few fish had done the same. Although there were plenty of small jacks, we couldn’t find anything larger to take a bait. Fishing hard, we’d neglected to take a lunch break. The smell of the restaurants at Fishermen’s Village wafted across the river to us, and suddenly we weren’t as interested in fishing.

Wanting to keep an eye on the water, in case there were other anglers out there, we decided to eat at Harpoon Harry’s, which sits at the end of the Fishville mall and overlooks the bridges, the yacht basin, and — if your eyes are sharp enough — the entire mouth of the Peace River and most of the Myakka’s. Even if nobody was hooking up, we figured the constant boat traffic would provide sufficient entertainment.
