Most people don’t put enough emphasis on the little things. But when it comes to maximizing your efforts in catching bass, no detail is too small. Hooks come in a wide variety of sizes and shapes, and now they even have different thicknesses. It’s easy to get confused as to which hook suits your needs.
For years, bass anglers fished with nothing but the old Shakespeare J-hook. That’s all there was. You could get it in different sizes, but it was essentially the same hook. If you look at the market for hooks today, you see some that are referred to as “surgically sharpened” for the best hook set ever. For me, if you can’t swing the rod back and get a hook lodged in the bass’s mouth, maybe you should hit the gym.
