Boaters like to complain about how much boating costs. It’s not a cheap hobby. There are even jokes: What do the letters B-O-A-T stand for? Break out another thousand. What’s the definition of a boat? A hole in the water into which you throw money. What are a boater’s two happiest days? The day he buys his boat, and the day he sells it.
But ask a boat owner why he continues to be one, and you’ll hear about the freedom to go out on the water whenever you want, the carefree hours spent afloat, the memories made with loved ones. While it’s true you have to pay to play, the reason we do it is because it’s worth every penny.
