August in south Florida: It’s hot as a brick oven, humid as a steam bath, there’s standing water all around, and the bugs are out for blood. If that sounds like the perfect time to go out in the woods and hunt, read on. Otherwise, this column might not be for you.
In Zone A (which includes most of Southwest Florida), deer bowhunting season on private lands opened Aug. 2nd and wraps up at the end of the month. If that’s not enough time for you, I have good news: You can bowhunt antlered deer during the muzzleloading and regular gun seasons as well. But if you’re anything like me, you’re not going to let a little thing like the inconveniences of summer stand in the way of your woods time.
