The mental game

Whether you fish bass tournaments or simply go out for a day of fishing on your favorite lake, you’re going to run into days when the fishing is not so good. The weekend warrior has the advantage of heading in and calling it a day if things aren’t going well. The tournament angler is not so fortunate. He is obligated to sit out there and grind it out.

That phrase, “grind it out,” is one commonly used by golfers when they play through an injury or simply can’t hit the ball where they want it to go. In order to post the best score possible, you do different things to help yourself along and get through your round. Fishing is no different. When your spot dries up, or the bass suddenly vanish, you have to resort to tactics you may not be comfortable with. How well you handle it will determine the type of day you will have.
